Scripture Study

We want to welcome back all our previous Scripture study participants and extend an encouraging, warm welcome to all interested adults to join us. This is an outstanding program, and it is sure to enrich your life. No prior Scripture study is needed. Please find a topic below and check to see that the day and time will fit your schedule. Sign-up will be in the church lobby before and after Mass the weekend of August 28 & 29. If you will be out of town that weekend, please call the facilitator of your chosen topic to register for that study. Deadline to enroll is Sunday, September 5th.

Praying the Scriptures 7 sessions
Starts Tuesday, September 14th at 9:15a.m. in parish classroom 203. Facilitator: Nadine Duffy. Phone: 271-0093. This study explores the always relevant ways God has transformed history, and invites participation through praise, thanksgiving, and many other ways Scripture teaches prayer.

Israel’s Story—Part One 7 sessions
Starts Tuesday, October 12th at 9:15a.m. in parish classroom 205. Facilitator: Edward Moore. Phone: 855-6285. This book explores Old Testament history, theology and stories from the creation accounts of Genesis to the fall of the Northern Kingdom and its prophets.

Touching the Mysteries: Scripture and the Rosary 5 sessions
Starts Tuesday, September 21st at 1:30p.m. at 3 Egton Drive, Bella Vista. Facilitator: Kay Smith. Phone: 855-3315. Focus on the biblical stories that provide background the mysteries of the rosary. The stories of Jesus are the best way to focus our prayer, and the rosary has provided a traditional format for doing this over the centuries. After an overview session, there are four remaining sessions, each devoted to a set of mysteries – Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious.

Pilgrim People 5 sessions
Starts Tuesday, September 21st at 7:00p.m. in parish classroom 203. Facilitator: Karen Wenzel. Phone: 876-2599. God’s people have always been sojourners, pilgrims on a journey, open to God’s call and direction. In the modern world, nothing is so vital as understanding this identity and finding models of faithfulness to bolster us on our own journeys. The Bible’s sacred stories unfold in a way that reminds us we are not on our own.
